It follows the <strong>English Channel coastline<\/strong> and the <strong>Normandy coast<\/strong> for <strong>446 kilometers<\/strong>, running from the <strong>Pays d\u2019Auge<\/strong> to the <strong>Cotentin<\/strong>. Until the early 20th century, it was used by customs officers responsible for <strong>anti-smuggling surveillance<\/strong>.<br \/>\nToday, the <strong>GR\u00ae223<\/strong> takes lovers of sweeping views and challenges alike to discover unspoiled nature and exceptional places. The <strong>Customs Officers\u2019 Path<\/strong> includes <strong>23 stages<\/strong> of <strong>14 to 25 kilometers<\/strong>, which you can join at any time, in any season.    It\u2019s up to you to choose one or more loops of this <strong>iconic route<\/strong> on the <strong>La Hague peninsula<\/strong>.<br \/>\nYou\u2019ll be able to admire sublime limestone cliffs carved by the waves, typical dry-stone walls, and breathe in the salty sea air. Here are two <strong>stages<\/strong> of the <strong>GR\u00ae223<\/strong>, <strong>pleasant and easy<\/strong>, just a stone\u2019s throw from <strong><a style=\"color: #0563c1; text-decoration: underline;\" href=\"\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Camping Utah Beach<\/a><\/strong>, with a <strong>heated indoor pool<\/strong> and water slides. Remember to book a pitch for your tent or accommodation (mobile home, chalet, Premium tent or something more unusual, <strong>Camp\u2019Etoile<\/strong> and <strong>Coco Sweet<\/strong>) at this <strong>stopover campsite for hiking in Normandy<\/strong>.  <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Carentan to Utah Beach (19 km \/ 5 hrs)<\/strong>. This route will take you to discover marshes, dunes, cliffs, and typical coastal villages. Take a break at the <strong>Regional Nature Park Marshes Visitor Center<\/strong>. It\u2019s also a chance to reconnect with history (D-Day sites, Landing Museum\u2026).   <\/li>\n<li><strong>Utah Beach to Sainte-M\u00e8re-\u00c9glise (15 km \/ 4 hrs).<\/strong> This deeply moving route, which passes through <strong>Sainte-M\u00e8re-\u00c9glise<\/strong>, won\u2019t leave anyone indifferent.
