Located between Caen and Vire, this site covers more than <strong>20 hectares<\/strong> and is home to over <strong>700 animals<\/strong> in total.<br \/>\nHailing from Africa, Australia, China, and even Siberia, these wild species live in a protected environment.<br \/>\nJurques Zoo also pursues an <strong>educational goal<\/strong>, notably with walk-through enclosures and keeper demonstrations to give the public a better understanding of the needs and lifestyles of the various residents. <\/p>\n<p>Reptiles, primates, big cats, parrots&#8230; Species range from the most famous (zebras, giraffes, wolves) to the most spectacular: the hyacinth macaw (the world&#8217;s largest parrot), the Siberian tiger, and the white lion\u2014a rare genetic mutation and the star of the zoo! <\/p>\n<p><iframe title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/1PLsbjPfur0\" width=\"100%\" height=\"400\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><span data-mce-type=\"bookmark\" style=\"display: inline-block; width: 0px; overflow: hidden; line-height: 0;\" class=\"mce_SELRES_start\"><\/span><\/iframe><\/p>\n<h2>Visiting Jurques Zoo<\/h2>\n<p><strong>Open from February to November<\/strong>, Jurques Zoo is an <strong>ideal family outing<\/strong> to introduce your children to protected species in a natural setting.<br \/>\nAllow about 2 hours for a full tour of the zoo, and check the times for certain activities: penguin feeding, monkey snack time, the lions&#8217; and wolves&#8217; feast&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Other activities are offered throughout the day<\/strong>. You can enter walk-through enclosures, such as the monkey habitat, to get a closer look.<br \/>\nThe Australian aviary is also open to visitors. Finally, a snake handling workshop is available\u2014a chance to overcome certain fears and misconceptions about these reptiles!  <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Dining is available on-site<\/strong>: you can choose between the zoo restaurant and the snack bar (open in July and August).<\/li>\n<li><strong>Adult rate (ages 12 and up)<\/strong>: \u20ac19 in high season and \u20ac18 in low season<\/li>\n<li><strong>Child rate (ages 3 to 11)<\/strong>: \u20ac13 in high season and \u20ac12 in low season<\/li>\n<li><strong>Free for children under 3<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Accepted payments<\/strong>: Credit\/debit cards, holiday vouchers, and cash<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A trip around the world&#8230; in Normandy?
