The Vélomaritime

Got ants in your pants? Cyclists, here’s your escape: the Vélomaritime, a 1500-kilometer cycle path that runs along the northern coasts of France. This route will be 100% continuous by June 2021. An opportunity to discover this exceptional route throughout the beautiful season during your stay at camping Utah Beach!

The Vélomaritime, from Brittany to Belgium

The Vélomaritime is the culmination of an ambitious project: to create a cycle path that runs along the entire coastline, from Roscoff in Breton Finistère, to Dunkerque in the North. That’s about ten departments, all on a 96% continuous cycle path! A royal road for cycling enthusiasts, allowing them to visit preserved sites listed as UNESCO World Heritage: the cliffs of Etretat, Mont Saint-Michel, the Pink Granite Coast, the Opal Coast…

The advantage of the continuous route: you can start wherever you want, for as long as you wish. On lavelomaritime.fr, you can compare itineraries and choose the most suitable one based on duration, difficulty level, and your preferred thematic thread (gastronomic, natural, historical route?).

The Vélomaritime and Beyond

The Vélomaritime is an absolutely exceptional cycling route in France, but the project doesn’t stop there. The Vélomaritime is part of a larger European project, EuroVelo 4, which includes 17 cycling routes across Europe. This vast network extends to Central Europe, covering a total length of 4000 km. In other words, it allows you to visit no less than 6 countries in addition to France. Belgium, Netherlands, Germany, Ukraine, Poland, Czech Republic… More eco-responsible than train or plane, the Vélomaritime allows you to conquer the roads of Europe for an unforgettable sporting and human experience.

If you wish to explore other regions of France, the Vélomaritime is also connected to other French cycle routes. Whether it’s reaching Mont Saint Michel and Paris, following the course of the Seine, or exploring the most beautiful places in Brittany, the Vélomaritime’s stopping points allow you to easily branch off from one cycle path to another. So, ready to get in the saddle?
